
ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØrecognized as an NAIA Scholar Team
A record total of 16 programs were named NAIA Scholar Teams, as ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ (SXU) was recognized for their work in the classroom during the 2018-2019 campaign.
To be recognized as an , programs must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the year. The team's average GPA is made up of all eligible varsity student-athletes.
"I couldn't be prouder of our student-athletes," said ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØAthletics Director Allison Kern. "This record number of NAIA Scholar Teams speak to the standard we've set in our department, for wanting students that excel on the court as well as in the classroom."
The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØwomen's soccer team led the way, posting an average GPA of 3.52 for the year. ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØsoftball came in second with a GPA of 3.48, while ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØwomen's golf posted a team GPA of 3.44.
ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØpreviously had a combined 13 teams earn NAIA Scholar Team status in 2014 and have had 10 or more teams win the award each of the past six seasons.
