When Shimoda was very young and just about to start school, his parents noticed he wasn't talking despite his very active demeanor. His parents had heard about SXU's Ludden Speech and Language Clinic and decided to seek out help to see what was going on with their son.
After some speech therapy, ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØwas able to identify and diagnose his speech issues as autism. Shimoda was able to get the therapy he needed from ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØand still remain just as active only this time channeling that energy into sports, where he later become a Special Olympics athlete.
