stay engaged with you through our new Mercy Matters e-newsletter. This quarterly "Good
News" e-newsletter is designed to share with you all of the wonderful happenings involving
our campus by spotlighting our accomplishments, innovative initiatives and transformative
stories that illustrate how we're living in our Mercy mission.
There's so much that makes ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ a unique and welcoming campus.

ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØsecures its first NSF award

|

|
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ a $1.46
million grant -- the largest of its kind in ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØhistory -- to support underserved
students pursuing a career in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics
(STEM) fields. Thirty-eight percent of students at ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØare Hispanic, and this award
marks the first NSF grant ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØhas received as part of the Hispanic-Serving Institutions

ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØstudents continue living Mercy in Spring Break service trips
|
Over the 2018 Spring Break several ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ students took part in service
trips. These trips took them to new places in order to engage in team building activities
that fueled their acts of service and desires to give back to the community. Planning

Introducing SXU's newly expanded School of Nursing and Health Sciences

ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ is excited to announce the expansion of the School of Nursing!
The new School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SONHS) is now home to the nationally
recognized programs in nursing and speech-language pathology, as well as new inter-professional
major programs in exercise science, sports and fitness administration, and gerontology.

SXU's Nursing program named a Center of Excellence for fourth consecutive term

|
ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ's Nursing program is honored by the National League for Nursing
(NLN) as a Center of Excellence for the 2018-2022 term! This prestigious designation
has been earned by the program for the fourth consecutive term for creating environments
that enhance student learning and professional development. ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØhas held the Center
of Excellence designation continuously since 2007. Read more.

Saint Xavier opens CCAC season with win over St. Ambrose (Iowa)

|
|
|
With a dominating opening set, ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ held off the visiting St. Ambrose
(Iowa) Bees on Tuesday night, earning a four-set win at the Shannon Center 25-19,
25-23, 21-25, 25-21. The Cougars (4-2, 1-0 CCAC) took the win in the CCAC opener as
three players recorded double-doubles on the night. .

The ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØ community is preparing for yet another exciting, spirit-filled
week of activities and events for its 2018 Homecoming Week, which will take place
from Wednesday, September 19 to Saturday, September 22. ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµÏÂÔØis delighted to invite
students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends to enjoy the festivities on the Chicago
